OUR HISTORY
The Animal Hospital of Statesville opened its doors on Mocksville
Highway in February, 1974. Before splitting into separate small and
large animal practices in 1984, the hospital was a joint facility with
ownership shared between Dr. Dave Parks and Dr. Dwight
Blackwelder. The Statesville Bovine and Equine Hospital is currently
housed in the rear part of the current facility, and is still owned
and
operated by Dr. Dwight Blackwelder. Dr. Chip Cooney joined the
small animal practice in 1995 and became a partner in 1998.
Upon Dr. Parks' retirement in 2004, Dr. Cooney assumed full
ownership of The Animal Hospital of Statesville.
ABOUT US
We are a four-doctor practice with talented and dedicated technicians, client service personnel and kennel staff. We offer many medical services, including an extensive array of surgical procedures, dentistry, hospitalization, wellness care and a full service boarding facility. Our facility is equipped with digital radiology, a complete in-house diagnostic laboratory, blood pressure monitoring, ultrasound, video otoscope, a laser surgery unit and glaucoma screening. We feel very strongly that client education is a top priority. If you, the pet owner, are well educated in the care and health of your pet, then our job as your veterinary facility will be a much more enjoyable one.
At the Animal Hospital of Statesville, we take client education and customer service seriously. In order to meet our goals of the highest quality service to our clients and their pets, we temporarily close our office and hold continuing education meetings every Monday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. During this time, we thoroughly discuss any issues that have arisen during the course of the previous week. We share customer service stories to find out what we are doing right, AND what we might have done differently. Our doctors prepare lectures for us on topics relating to pets and their care, such as diabetes, intestinal parasites, external parasites, etc., to educate our staff to better relate to and educate our clients. We often have pharmacy representatives present informative programs on their products so that we may help our clients make the best choices for their pets. These meetings are mandatory for our staff members. Our weekly staff meetings help us work better as a team, which, in turn, help us serve our clients to the best of our abilities.
